They believe that all students have worth, are capable of learning, and just as capable of succeeding in an atmosphere in which students are encouraged in a positive and helpful way. Everyone in the school community is given the opportunity to actively participate in the educational process.
Each individual is given the responsibility to conduct oneself in a respectful and courteous manner that meets the established behavioral and academic expectations of the school. The climate promotes respect, tolerance, and cooperation in a safe and secure learning environment. The school’s learner-centered approach recognizes that many of these students are in transition from childhood to adulthood, and often feel unsure of who they are and in what direction they wish to go with their life. This often marks a difficult part of maturity, and it is a goal of the school to help this process by encouraging creativity and self exploration.
The Muirlands Middle School strongly believes that all decisions made by the entire faculty must serve all students emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs and development. Muirlands strives to offer a strong educational program, and inspire students to seek knowledge and answers outside of their school required assignments, promoting a personal love and interest in learning.
